FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RIPON OFFICERS RESCUE DROWNING CANINES

RiponCA:  On 06-21-13, at 0757 hours, Ripon Public Works employee James Morad called the police department advising emergency dispatch supervisor Celeste Wilson that two canines were trapped in a canal north of VermeulenPark.

Officers Mindy Morris and Mario Ysit immediately responded to the scene.  Upon arrival, a German Sheppard, and a St. Bernard were located in the canal.  The animals were trapped in the swift moving water, against a metal grate.  The two canines were treading water and they were obviously in distress and drowning.

First Sergeant Steve Merchant and Detective Sergeant Terri Jensen responded to the scene with rescue poles.  Officers Morris and Ysit sprang into action and the canines were quickly rescued. The wet, tired canines were reunited with their happy, grateful owner at the scene.
