FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

COMMUNITY INVOLEMENT MAKES ANIMAL SHELTER OPEN HOUSE A SUCCESS

RiponCA:  On 06-22-13, the Ripon Animal Shelter held an open house. Over 150 Riponites came out to tour the shelter.  Some residents adopted animals, while other generously gave donations to improve the shelter.  Animal lovers of all ages saw kittens, puppies, guinea pigs and a large rabbit.  McGruff the crime dog was there taking photos with children of all ages.  Parents waited in line to have a Kid-ID made for their child.  The volunteers sold a large number of hot dogs to help raise money for the shelter.  Friends and neighbors gathered to chat and catch up on local events.

Department spokesperson, First Sgt. Steve Merchant said, “The animal services team works hard each and every day, keeping our pets safe.  Sometimes it’s a thankless job, but they deserve praise for always being there when the community needs them.  On days like the open house, we really see how many concerned caring animal lovers we have in town.  The turn out and support for our animal services team was really great.  We have the best citizens around!”
