Police Department Launches New Smart Phone Application
The department launched it’s new smart phone application that will allow community members to access department information and creates other opportunities for interaction with the department.  The smart device app was released on August 29, and officially announces its release today after some modifications and updates.
The application is powered by, which sponsored the application for the department.  The application can be found in the Apple iTunes store or Google Play store.  There is no cost to the consumer for the application.
Here are the menu items that will be available on the application:
Report an Issue:
Allows users to report issues and submit anonymous tips. Geotags location, and allows for photo attachment. Submissions are received via email.
Crime Mapping:
Users can view a mobile-friendly native and HTML5 version of crime map. Pulls from CAD/RMS, or other programs.
Personal Property Catalog:
Users can catalog their valuables, with serial numbers, descriptions, and photos. Users can then email the catalog to themselves or the department.
Users can view SRO contact info as well as call, email, or anonymous tip the SRO.
Community Policing:
An FAQ-type interface where users can access information, such as “How can I prevent identity theft?”, or other community-related issues.
Commend Officer:
Users can submit positive feedback regarding interaction with officers. Submissions are received via email.
General FAQs:
Users can access general, department-related FAQs.
Join Our Team:
Users can view employment opportunities within the department.
Press Releases:
Users can access press releases in three different formats: PDFs, webpage link, or Nixle link.
Social Media:
Users can view all the departments social media in one place.
Collection of useful/helpful weblinks, determined by the department.
Department contact page. Holds name, address, phone, email, and web address of department. Includes a button that accesses the department directory as well.
The department hopes this will be another tool to help allow the free exchange of information amongst the community and its police department.  If you have any suggestions for information on the application please send them to Chief Ormonde at gro.nopirfoyticnull@ednomroe, as we will continue to modify information on the application to best suite the citizens of Ripon.
