Ripon, CA: On September 23, at approximately 2:43 pm, Ripon Officers responded to the area N. Jack Tone Rd. on a report of License Plate Reader stolen vehicle alert. The Dispatch center was able to provide an updated location of the vehicle through the city’s MESH camera system as it passed through the intersection of N. Jack Tone Rd. and W. Main St.

The vehicle, stolen out of Fresno, was located a short time later traveling eastbound on W. Fourth St. A vehicle pursuit ensued as the suspect fled officers in the stolen vehicle, in the area of Vera Ave., Doak Blvd., Country Woods Dr., Robert Ave., and eventually ending in an orchard Southwest of Moncure Rd. and S. A foot pursuit of approximately 1 mile ended with the suspect being taken into custody without incident by Ripon Officers near Caswell State Park at approximately 3:08 pm. The suspect did claim an injury to his hand from a prior incident that reportedly occurred in another jurisdiction.

The suspect, Michael Zumkeller (33 yrs) of Manteca, was later booked into the San Joaquin County jail for Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Evading an Officer, Resisting Arrest, and two outstanding Felony warrants.
