Arson Suspect Arrested 

Ripon, CA– On 10-08-14, at approximately 4:30 pm, Ripon Police Department officers were dispatched to a local business (Burns Truck and Trailer 1496 W. Santos Ave.) regarding a fire that was burning in the office. A female suspect reportedly set fire to the restroom in the office. When confronted, the female suspect reportedly cursed at employees and fled the area on foot. An employee from the business attempted to follow the fleeing suspect.

Responding officers located the suspect in the Jimco Truck Stop parking lot. The suspect initially ran from uniformed officers. Officers located the suspect, hiding underneath a trailer. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was found to have a felony arrest warrant from the Stockton Police Department regarding a commercial burglary. The suspect was also found to have a misdemeanor warrant for DUI.

Ripon Police Department officers worked closely with Ripon Consolidated Fire Department personnel to examine the origin of the fire. The suspect reportedly set fire to the restroom at the business. The business sustained minor damage.

Jessica Marie Utley (37) a transient, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on a felony arson charge. She was also booked on the commercial burglary and DUI warrants.
