Teddy Bears For Children In Need

Recently, two citizens with ties to our community, Geri Lewis and Barry Day, came to the police department to donate teddy bears for children in need.

Ripon officers will distribute the donated teddy bears to children they encounter during a number of incidents such as domestic violence calls, vehicle accidents, child custody disputes, assault cases, runaway and human trafficking cases.

Ripon Police Department spokesperson, Lieutenant Steve Merchant said, “We appreciate these donations. When we deal with children who are physically and emotionally wounded, sometimes the smallest gesture of human kindness is a positive step in a young victim’s recovery.”

The preschool children sat silently, intently listening to the beloved Dr. Seuss classic as it was read to them by these devoted officersP.I.O. – Lieutenant Steve Merchant
