Ripon, CA — Yesterday, at approximately 3:40 pm, Juan Antonio Contreras (36) of Modesto was arrested by Ripon Police Department officers on charges of shoplifting, providing false information to a peace officer and for an outstanding Modesto Police Department DUI warrant for his arrest.

Ripon CVS Pharmacy employees reportedly saw Contreras holding a small child, while he stuffed merchandise down his own pants. He exited the store without paying for the items. CVS employees immediately called the Ripon Police Department.

Ripon officers arrived on scene within minutes. Makeup and female hair care products were located in the suspects pants. Contreras was taken into custody without incident and he was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Department spokesperson, Lt. Steve Merchant praised the Ripon CVS employees for their immediate call to the police when they spotted a crime in progress.
