Pursuit Ended Safely – Suspect Arrested

Ripon Ca. – On 11-05-16, at approximately 2:30 am, Ripon officers spotted a black Honda Accord that was displaying a license plate belonging to a Ford truck. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle near the intersection of Jack Tone Road and Clinton South Ave.

The suspect initially pulled to the side of the road then sped away from the scene at a high rate of speed. The suspect fled north on Jack Tone Rd. at approximately 90 MPH. After the suspect’s vehicle passed Clinton South Ave, the vehicle experienced mechanical issues.

The suspect pulled to the side of the road and fled from the Honda on foot into an orchard near Van Wyk Lane. Ripon Officers Raul Hernandez and Richard Francis pursued the suspect through the orchard and they quickly caught up to him. Upon seeing the Ripon officers directly behind him, the suspect gave up and he was taken into custody without incident.

Officers located Methamphetamine and marijuana on the suspect’s person. The suspect was identified as being Anthony Richard Tostado (30) of Manteca Ca. Tostado was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court and he was also found to be on active San Joaquin County Probation for possession of stolen property.

Officers located a frightened Labrador that had been abandoned in the suspect’s garbage-strewn vehicle. The K-9 was cared for by the officers at the scene and taken into protective custody.

Anthony Richard Tostado (30) of Manteca Ca. was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges that included an outstanding warrant for his arrest, evading a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
