FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
KIDS GIVE CASH FOR K-9 COP
Ripon Ca. – The Ripon Police Department has been seeking community donations to help purchase a drug detection dog. The department’s first drug detection dog “Topper” retired after a very successful career.
On 10-31-12, two young Ripon girls, accompanied by their proud father, came to the police department to donate their hard earned recycling money to the department, toward the purchase of a new drug detection dog. B’elanna and Aidan Morriss presented Chief Ed Ormonde with the money they saved. Chief Ormonde gratefully accepted the money from these outstanding citizens.
B’elanna (11) and Aidan (10) eagerly told officers that they wanted to donate the money to the Ripon Police Department to help police catch “Bad guys”, and to help stop drugs in Ripon. The girls said their grandmother contributed money also to, in their words, “Keep our town safe.”
Police Chief Ed Ormonde said, “We are proud to see young Riponites contributing in ways that are heartwarming expressions of concern for their community.”
