Explorer Program

The Ripon Police Department, in conjunction with The Boy Scouts of America, provides an opportunity for young men and women to experience, first hand, how a police department functions. Explorers are trained in various aspects of law enforcement and used to assist police personnel. The Explorers are required to volunteer 16 hours a month, along with three major functions in the City of Ripon; Almond Blossom Festival, Fourth of July, National Night Out, and Main Street Day.

Requirements:

14 to 21 years of age
Parental or guardian approval
Maintain "C" average while in school
Have no, negative contact with any police department
Have good moral habits

Ripon Police Department Explorers attended the Explorer Challenges in Oxnard, July 2004.
