The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Law Enforcement class is being offered by the Ripon Police Department, in cooperation with the Ripon Unified School District and Ripon High School, to 11th and 12th grade students of RHS and Ripon Christian High School. The course is designed to provide information to students regarding careers in law enforcement. Students participate in a daily two period class and receive instruction on such topics as: Major components of the criminal justice system, substantive and procedural law, patrol tactics, as well as career development topics such as resume writing and interviewing skills.
The class was first offered during the 2004-2005 school year. There was a total enrollment of 30 students in the class. In addition to class room instruction, the students also attended field trips to the CHP Academy, San Joaquin County Jail, Alcatraz, and the Ripon Police Department. Based on the feedback received from the students, parents, and school district, we believe the first year was very successful and look forward to continued success in the future.
For further information regarding the ROP Law Enforcement class, please contact Officer Shannon. If you attend RHS or RCHS, and are interested in enrolling in the course, please contact your guidance counselor no later than 08-03-05.
