K-9 Officer Vector von Gebruder Grimm, known as “Vitus” is a 3 year old German Shephard that has been trained by world renowned trainer Markus Maaser in obedience, tracking, protection, apprehension, and narcotic detection.
Vitus’ handler, Officer Matthew Belaski, has completed an intense 8-week K-9 handler course in compliance with Peace Officer Standards and Training requirements. The department is excited to have Vitus as an additional asset to our patrol operations, as we continue to look for ways to protect our community and increase the safety of our staff.
The ability for the department to acquire Vitus came from the generosity of Mike and Janeen Fisher of Fisher Nursery. Their donation included the purchase of Vitus, travel expenses and associated costs to bring Vitus and Mr. Maaser to Ripon, and the one on one training Officer Belaski received. The department is excited to have Vitus as an additional asset to our patrol operations, as we continue to look for ways to protect our community and increase the safety of our staff.
